Somos Durham construye poder colectivo dentro de la comunidad latiné de Durham a través de la educación política, la sanación cultural y alianzas estratégicas para transformar los sistemas de opresión y crear caminos hacia la alegría, el bienestar y la liberación intergeneracional. Juntos, estamos construyendo un modelo de poder político latiné que puede inspirar cambios en toda Carolina del Norte. Ya seas votante o no votante, activista con experiencia o nuevo en el compromiso cívico, hay un lugar para ti en nuestro movimiento. Somos Durham builds collective power within Durham’s Latiné community through political education, cultural healing, and strategic partnerships to transform systems of oppression and create pathways for intergenerational joy, wellness, and liberation. Together, we’re building a model for Latiné political power that can inspire change across North Carolina. Whether you’re a voter or non-voter, experienced activist or new to civic engagement, there’s a place for you in our movement.

All donations to Somos Durham are processed through our fiscal sponsor, Asheville Creative Arts, a 501(c)(3) tax deductible organization. This helps fund our 501(c)(3) related events, operations, and programming.
Who is Asheville Creative Arts (ACA)?
ACA is an Asheville-based arts and arts service organization, providing high quality, professional theatre, performance, and arts experiences to Asheville audiences of all ages, and offering fiscal sponsorship and related services to sibling social enterprises and arts nonprofits serving Asheville and Western North Carolina.
ACA is providing fiscal sponsorship to us as a mission-aligned grassroots group.
Why do we have a fiscal sponsor vs receiving funds ourselves?
We as Somos Durham do not have tax-exempt status. A fiscal sponsor is a tax-exempt organization that agrees to receive funds on behalf of another nonprofit or project, one that doesn’t have a tax-exempt status yet.
